Miami-Dade Beacon Council combines its 2017-2018 Annual Meeting & Key Ceremony

    (Miami, FL)–  The Miami-Dade Beacon Council, the official public-private economic development partnership, is pleased to announce this year’s achievements during the 2017-2018 Annual Meeting & Key Ceremony. This year’s event, is a celebration of Miami-Dade’s economic development initiatives and results, which focus on job creation and capital investment. It is founded on the pillars of the Miami-Dade Beacon Council strategy: market Miami as a world class business location, grow local companies and shape our economic future.

    The Annual Meeting & Key Ceremony is slated for this Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the InterContinental Hotel at which the official change in leadership will take place from this year’s Chair Jaret Davis, Greenberg Traurig’s Miami Office Managing Stakeholder, to Incoming Chair Nelson Lazo, Doctors Hospital CEO. Over 400 people are expected to attend to this year’s event to congratulate the new Board Members and participate in the highly anticipated Experience Miami showcase, exhibiting over 40 of Miami’s new and expanding business and the innovators driving Miami’s growing economy. Attendees will have one-on-one opportunity to experience and interact with the businesses.

    “This year we are trying something new. By combining our Annual Meeting with the Key Ceremony, which honors our new businesses with a key to Miami-Dade County, we are combining the enthusiasm of two of our biggest events.,” said Michael Finney, president and CEO of the Miami-Dade Beacon Council.

    The event will also be honoring the 46 companies who have either expanded, relocated or are new in the Miami- Dade County ranging from aviation to trade and logistics representing Miami-Dade’s diverse portfolio of industries. These businesses will be honored with a Key to the County by Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez, County Commissioners, City Officials and other dignitaries who will be attending the event.

    “This year we want to honor all those businesses that have added to the Miami-Dade County’s economy. Many new jobs have been created in this community positively impacting the economic development. Along with our partners at the Miami-Dade Beacon Council, one of our priorities is to provide businesses with the necessary tools to grow and bring more jobs into this evolving community,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez.

    “The Key Ceremony is an opportunity to acknowledge the 46 companies who we have assisted this past fiscal year and have helped create more than 2,134 jobs and generated $209.7 million in new capital investment,” said Miami-Dade Beacon Council Chair Jaret Davis, Co-Managing Shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office.

    “We have achieved great success in this past fiscal year and look forward to welcoming new companies and assisting existing companies create more jobs for the Miami-Dade County as we continue to evolve into a global city,” said Miami-Dade Beacon Council Incoming Chair and Doctors Hospital CEO, Nelson Lazo.
