Mission & Vision
The Miami-Dade Beacon Council, a public-private partnership, is the official economic development organization for Miami-Dade County.
Mission
Drive a more sustainable, inclusive, and competitive economy for Greater Miami.
Vision
Greater Miami is unparalleled as a global business community, where a diverse workforce, innovation and opportunity intersect to produce a prosperous economy.
About Us
Led by a professional staff and Board of volunteer community leaders, the organization facilitates business growth and expansion locally, nationally and internationally. The Council was founded in 1985 as an outgrowth of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce to focus on business recruitment, expansion and retention.
Today, the Miami-Dade Beacon Council continues to advance community objectives through a carefully planned action-oriented agenda developed in collaboration with Miami-Dade County officials, education, business and civic leaders.
Our Pillars
Our strategic vision, which includes five pillars is focused on growing the Beacon Council into a people-centered and future-focused economic development organization.
Grow the Economy
An asset-based strategy that leverages local universities, ports, airports, and other competitive advantages. We are targeting high-value industries such as aviation, life sciences, healthcare, trade, logistics, finance, and technology to maximize Miami’s competitive edge. The plan also focuses on ecosystem development to improve the performance of local businesses.
Champion Miami
Elevate Miami’s global profile, boost its economic appeal, and promote it as a vibrant place for business and lifestyle. We are focusing on branding, marketing, and partnerships to foster a competitive, inclusive economy that attracts talent, investment, and innovation.
Invest in People
Align the talent pipeline with industry needs by collaborating with private sector leaders. We aim to broaden access to workforce and training programs, and foster connections between professionals and the community to support long-term career aspirations in Miami.
Shape the Future
Engage stakeholders through research and dialogue on critical issues like housing affordability and infrastructure. Key activities include integrating local municipalities into economic development, establishing a robust business research department, and providing seminars for local officials.
Deliver & Track
Active tracking of metrics and data is essential to measuring our performance and ensuring high standards.
